Coverage Details

In case of a medical emergency due to illness or accident while in Canada or on a side trip, we cover:

  • Hospitalization (semi-private room)

  • Emergency dental care

  • Medical and paramedical treatments

  • Transportation expenses (ambulance or taxi service, repatriation to your country of permanent residence if your medical condition requires it)

  • Subsistence allowance (accommodation, meals, essential phone calls, taxi transportation, childcare expenses for accompanying dependent children)

Please note that certain medical expenses are not covered. This includes costs related to:

  • Trip undertaken for medical purposes

  • Non-urgent, experimental or elective treatments

  • Treatments received in your country of permanent residence

  • High-risk sports or activities

  • Suicide and self-inflicted injury

  • Use of alcohol, drugs and other intoxicating substances

  • Illegal acts

  • Acts of war and civil unrest

The policy has other exclusions, including some due to pre-existing medical conditions.

Yes, you can purchase our Visitors to Canada insurance within 30 days of your arrival. If you currently have similar insurance from another provider, please contact us before your coverage ends if you wish to switch to Blue Cross insurance.

This insurance is available for individuals aged 79 and under.

Yes, we provide insurance products that comply with Super Visa requirements, with coverage options of $50,000, $100,000, or $150,000 per traveller.

Yes, side trips are covered if they meet the following criteria:

  •  They must begin and end in Canada.
  •  They must occur entirely during the coverage period.
  •  They must not exceed 30 days in duration.
  •  They must not take place in your country of permanent residence.

 

Additionally, the total duration of all side trips during the coverage period must not exceed 49% of the contract duration.

The insurance covers new prescriptions necessary for emergency medical treatment. However, it does not cover medications for chronic conditions.
Dental care may be covered in certain circumstances, such as accidents occurring during the coverage period.

1. The “Trip break" lets you return to your country of permanent residence and then return to Canada without terminating the contract. During this period outside of Canada, no insurance coverage is valid, and no premium refund is available for days spent in the country of permanent residence. Insured persons must meet the insurance eligibility criteria each time they wish to return to Canada.
